The village of Montejaque is a very good example of a quiet Andalucian, white stoned village. It is an ideal location for those wishing to either walk, bird watch, tour or just relax in this quiet and tranquil location.

For the size of the village, Montejaque has excellent facilities including a number of very good but surprising inexpensive restaurants and tapas bars, banks, two well stocked grocery stores, bakery, fish monger, chemists and a day care hospital which is located in close proximity to the property.

Montejaque is famed for its scenery and walks, with over a third of Spanish plant life existing in the Natural Park which surrounds the village. The town is located on a migratory route for birds that fly from Europe to Africa each year. The area is the unique European home to the Griffon Vulture. A wide variety of birds can be seen in and around the village both in winter and in summer.

For those who wish to undertake pot-holing or to visit the caves, there are two famous ones that are located within four kilometers of Montejaque. Conducted tours are provided in the Pileta Cave with its 27,000 year old wall paintings and etchings. The second cave, the Ceuva Del Gato, runs for some three miles underground connecting 21 underground lakes.

Annual fiestas and religious festivals transform this sleepy village into a bustling community with celebrations going on through the night.

Within easy traveling distance there is the coastal resorts of the Costa del Sol and during winter the Sierra Neveda near Granada offers excellent snow skiing.

Within the National Park of Grazelama are the villages of Zahara and Grazelama with their stunning views and home to the Griffen Vultures. Cave houses, still in use, can be found in the village of Setinil.

Montejaque is located close to Ronda and Old Ronda, one of the most popular tourist locations in Spain. Ronda is sited on a large rock outcrop with its famous bridge linking the old town with the more modern shopping area. Famous for its leather products, the town has a wealth of history associated with it and Moorish influence is still apparent today. The oldest bullring in Spain is located in this town and is still in use.

In easy traveling distance of Montejaque is Gibraltar as well as other major towns including Algecerias, Seville, Cadiz, Jerez, Seville and Cordoba.
